At SUTEX we are aware of the great responsibility we have as a company, not only in ensuring the well-being of all our employees, but also in seeking to help other areas of society that require support from private businesses in order to develop initiatives that make a difference. This is why we currently support the following foundations:
Fundación Menorah is a private non-profit organization founded in 1993 for the purpose of providing high-quality education to disadvantaged children in Bogotá. The foundation runs a school where more than 1,000 girls receive comprehensive education and training in professional secretarial and administrative work in order to fulfill their goal of each student obtaining employment upon graduating.
Fundación Juan Felipe Gómez Escobar
Having witnessed the social plight that exists in Cartagena de Indias, along with the death of their son, Juan Felipe, in 2000, the Gómez Escobar family was motivated to create a foundation in his name, and which in his memory would save the lives of thousands of children who at this moment die because of a lack of resources in the city’s hospital and clinics.
The idea was not born as a simple answer to the pain of losing Juan Felipe. The Gómez Escobar family designed a complete plan based on a real social enterprise, whose priority is to exist indefinitely as support for children who live with health problems and adolescent mothers, who due to their condition, are marginalized from their community.
Un Techo para mi país – TECHO
In 1997, a group of young people began working towards their dream of overcoming the poverty in which millions of people live. The sense of urgency in the settlements spurred a mass movement for the construction of emergency housing together with the families that lived in unacceptable conditions and channel their energy in search of concrete solution to the problems that these communities faced every day.
In 2006, a group of young volunteers, convinced that poverty was a surmountable condition, decided to replicate the work of the Chilean NGO, Un Techo para mi País, in Colombia. Housing construction began in Altos de Cazucá and Ciudad Bolivar. Today, they are present in Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and Cartagena, where the support of thousands of young volunteers, individuals and private businesses continues to change the lives of thousands of people living in poverty.
